2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the release of the world's first modern gold bullion coin, the South African Gold Krugerrand. And the anniversary is being marked in a special, if slightly unusual way, as this iconic gold coin is being released, for the first time, a silver coin.
The Official 2017 Silver Krugerrand features the same iconic design as its golden sibling. On one side you'll find the South African Springbok, an instantly recognisable symbol of the nation. On the other side is the portrait of South African President Paul Kruger that so many are so familiar with. The coin is struck in an ounce of 99% pure silver and also features a 50th anniversary privy mark that is laser-etched on the surface using some of the most advanced minting technology available today. The unique frosting effect is also a result of this cutting edge process.
All silver Krugerrand's are shipped with a SA Mint "Certificate of Authenticity"
