Description

The Aztec Calendar Silver Round is struck by the Golden State Mint, a private US mint founded in 1974. The obverse carries the Aztec Calendar Stone, the famous Mexican carving that set out the Aztec view of time and the cosmos.

The reverse shows Cuauhtemoc, the last Aztec emperor of Tenochtitlan. Each round holds 1 troy oz of .999 fine silver. As a privately minted round it carries no face value, which usually means a lower premium than a government coin.

The detailed design and low premium make these rounds a popular way to stack silver by weight, especially in the smaller fractional sizes.
