Description
The Silver Kookaburra is the Perth Mint’s longest running silver series, struck since 1990. Each year carries a fresh kookaburra design, which has built a strong collector following over more than thirty years.
The obverse shows the reigning monarch. Each coin holds one troy ounce of .9999 fine silver and is legal tender in Australia with a 1 dollar face value. The one ounce coin is capped at 500,000 pieces a year.
A changing design, a capped mintage and a long history give the Kookaburra more collector appeal than a plain bullion coin, while it still tracks the silver price closely.
