Description
The Silver Koala is a Perth Mint bullion series struck since 2007. Each year brings a new koala design on the reverse, which gives the series a strong following among collectors as well as stackers.
The obverse shows the reigning monarch. Each coin holds one troy ounce of .9999 fine silver and is legal tender in Australia with a 1 dollar face value. Since 2018 the one ounce coin has been capped at 300,000 pieces a year.
The changing design and capped mintage give the Koala a little more collector interest than a plain bullion coin, while still trading close to the silver price.
