The obverse features Otto Schultz’s historic, left-facing effigy of Paul Kruger, former president of the South African Republic, surrounded by the state legend “SUID-AFRIKA · SOUTH AFRICA”. The reverse showcases Coert Steynberg’s iconic depiction of a prancing springbok—South Africa’s national animal—striding across the natural veld, flanked by the year-date “2026” and inscriptions specifying its fine gold weight. Struck in a proof finish using polished dies and specially prepared planchets, the coin displays frosted relief elements against mirror-like background fields. Despite its tiny 8.00 mm diameter, it retains the traditional 22-karat Crown Gold composition (gold alloyed with copper) that gives Krugerrands their signature durable, reddish hue.
